BPDG successfully supports Leclanché SA in its joint venture with the Indian storage battery giant Exide Industries Ltd.

The Swiss company Leclanché SA, a leading provider of energy storage solutions, is branching out into the Indian market by joining forces with Exide Industries Ltd., one of the largest manufacturers of batteries on the sub-continent. The two partners have signed a joint-venture agreement along these lines (75% - 25% JV) to fit out public transport, specifically electric buses and e-rickshaws, and the national grid, with a technology that helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that are harmful to people and the environment. Banque Profil de Gestion, with its expertise, is proud to have supported Leclanché SA in this business combination process, and particularly with the economic modelling and feasibility study for this joint venture. Leclanché SA’s exclusive know-how in lithium-ion batteries will therefore be able to count on the strength of Exide Industries Ltd.’s network to facilitate the development of this solution on the Indian market. The two companies are planning to build a production centre in the state of Gujarat by 2019. This will include an assembly line that should be operational by 2020.
